The process of creating an Art4 All oil painting is a long one and most probably best described by an artist that makes them so we had one of our experienced artists describe for you this process of making an Art 4 All painting:
Hi, my name is John. I have been painting a variety of paintings, for more than 35 years. I have painted all styles; however I mainly create abstract paintings.
For the past 5 years, I have been lending my skills to the Art 4 All project since I believe in the mission of the project.
I have been asked to try and describe for you, how a blank canvas can be transformed to a finished masterpiece.

Step 1: Sketching
The sketch is the first thing I start with. Especially when I create a complex painting like this one, this gives us an opportunity to focus on composition in the painting. I use pencils to sketch the rough shapes and figures onto the canvas and move on the next step.

Step 2: Painting the first layer
After I have made the sketch, I can start put some paint on the canvas.
Starting with the larger brushes, I Follow the charcoal outlines and paint the basic shapes and colors, keeping the edges soft. I paint the background, fill in the main subjects and not worry about small details.

Step 3: structuring the forms
At this point the forms are structured objects are built and the color affair begins. First I must start with the light and the dark colors and then I play with the depth by building or reducing the color tone. This step can take some time because I must wait for the paint to dry between each tone phase.

Step 4: building up the consistency
We use different brushes for different painting techniques. Or sometimes to create character to the painting, all that is needed is some additional paint on the brush. This is the point that we must pay special attention to the effects and the technique the artist has used in the original painting. This is where we get the chance show our artistic talent: knowing how to point out the original artist's style so anyone can identify it.

Step 5: adding the details: shadows, highlights and cast
We must make sure the objects in the oil painting reproduction contain the distinction the original artist had created. This is done by adding the colors and shading to the painting in a skillful fashion, keeping in mind all the elements of the painting, such as the background and the color solidity.

Step 6: touch-ups
At this point we bring in the "big guns": artists that have more than 15 of experience. They will offer their expert opinion on the last finishes on the painting. After that we send digital image to the client, see if he has any requests for changes. At the end the senior master painter examines the oil painting and gives his the authorization the ship the painting.

Your oil painting is very delicate. Do not use any cleaning products on it! Do not wet it! The best way to clean it is using a dry feather brush. Please remember oil paintings are sensitive to acids and oils, to prolong its existence its best that you avoid direct hand contact with the exterior of the painting. Also, if your oil painting is one with rigid texture, paint is fragile.
When you hang you're painting its best that you hold the painting only by its hanger or frame so as not to touch the surface of the artwork. If you must store the painting, to prevent any damage to the art work, store it vertically in such away that the back holds the weight of the painting and the frame.
