Leonardo Da Vinci

Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519) was born in Florence. Da Vinci is the ultimate example of a 'Renaissance Man'.  Not only was the Italian artist one of the greatest painters of all time, but he was also an exceptional scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, sculptor, architect, musician and writer. Da Vinci was a true genius whose influence on our world has been immeasurable. Da Vinci’s curiosity and exceptional power of invention put him ahead of his time.

When he turned fourteen, Da vinci had been accepted as an apprentice to a painting workshop of one of the time’s most respectable artists - errocchio. It was in this workshop that Da Vinci had studied and mastered various painting techniques.

Da Vinci’s paintings are among the most reproduced in the world.  Only a few of Da Vinci's original paintings survive today, and they decorate some of the world's most prestigious museums, drawing in countless visitors. Da Vinci’s most famous works are the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Both are considered to be masterpieces, and are constantly studied by art experts around the world.
