Marc Chagall
Marc Chagall (1887-1985) was a French Modern painter who was born to a Russian-Jewish family in Belarus. Chagall painted many Biblical themes reflecting his Jewish Heritage. He was also inspired by the Belarusian folk-life which he grew up in. Chagall used recurring objects and figures like fiddlers, candlesticks and various farm animals to portray these themes through symbolism.
