Paul Cezanne (1839-1906) was a French post-impressionist painter whose mastery of design and colour have made his work among the most desireable and valuable in the world of art. He introduced depth perception to painting. Cezanne is recognized as "The father of modern art". His use of simple forms and colour planes to capture nature as he saw it, had a profound affect on such great artists as Picasso and Matisse.
